Stagga Like Us

These links are videos displaying pieces written in various musical eras sung by pretty-darn-good choirs around the world. The songs are chosen, of course, because of their harmonies and overall beauty, but mostly for the awesomely infamous staggering entrances. I thoroughly enjoy these choir nerd things.

University of Philippenes Medicine Choir - Antonio Lotti's "Crucifixus"
Montclair State UniversityChamber Ensemble - Eric Whitacre's "Sleep"
Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir (NYC) - Arvo Part's Da Pacem Domine from "In Principio"

Simma Da Na

Looking at things broadly, there are only a few reasons why I can heal myself today. One of them is because I believe there are huge affects connected with the sound of MUSIC. This classical piece affects me quite positively even though it may have death in the title. After listening to this I'm able to look up to the sun peeking out of the gray sky and say to myself, " I don't know much, but I know I am so happy to see you, Sunshine." You may find yourself looking up to the sun, too.

Blow this horn

It's frustrating when my focus of this blog is geared towards something that isn't living. I am distracted by the trash rolling on the sidewalk. I am taken by surprise when people see it in clear daylight and do not pick it up and dispose of it. That's it, let it keep rolling around. Too bad ignoring it as I pass will not help me forget its existence. Well, I am guiding the trash today and continiously thereafter to where it should go, and we've got nothing to lose doing so. It has a place in this world. THE TRASH CAN! Good day and remember to recycle your shit.

The week is looking up! To you and yours, here are 'newish' songs worthy of downloading and spreading around during this month of brutal weather... instead of spreading germ-infested boogers all over the computer keyboard in the library (why do people think they are invisible in public facilities??)

Deadman - The Pale Rider
Amon Tobin - Hey Mr. Tree
J Dilla - So Far To Go Feat. Common & D'angelo

Hey, do you think this guy only uses the finger trimmer for his ears and nose? And why does his eye color have to change for each outfit?

Blips - Blow My Nose

Had a wonderful Valentine's Day. I think I'm glowing. Can you tell which Chameleon I am?

Blips - Chameleon Sushi

Faure opens the door to passion

Apres un Reve - Gabriel Faure

Dans un sommeil que charmait ton image
Je revais le bonheur, ardent message;
Tes yeux etaient plus doux, ta voix pure et sonore
Tu rayonnais comme un ciel eclaire par l'aurore;
Tu m'appelais, et je quittais la terre
Pour m'enfuir avec toi vers la lumiere;
Les cieux pour nous entr'ouvraient leurs nues;
Splendeurs inconnues, lueurs divines entrevues...
Helas, helas, triste reveil des songes !
Je t'apelle, o nuit, rends-moi tes mensonges;
Reviens, reviens radieuse
Reviens, o nuit mysterieuse

French to English Translation:

In a slumber charmed by your image
I dreamed of happiness, ardent mirage;
Your eyes were more tender, your voice pure and clear.
You were radiant like a sky brightened by sunrise;
You were calling me, and I left the earth
To flee with you towards the light;
The skies opened their clouds for us,
Splendors unknown, glimpses of divine light...
Alas! Alas, sad awakening from dreams!

I call to you, oh night, give me back your illusions;
Return, return with your radiance,
Return, oh mysterious night!

What is love? you say
dressing up the day
with thrills and mounds of clay
decoration be your thought -
you make today as you were taught
it is what it is
and see clearly why
true abandonment
opens up the sky
the light pours in
as it always does
but in your eyes
it is just the sun

it warms your heart
and you let it in
then love is free
for every kin
to every tree,
flower, bug and bird
this experience is new
one you've never heard
you awaken from the death
from the deep and dark world
and fly with the wind
seeing beauty, the pearl

when you didn't find Life
to be so sweet
you were looking
down at your feet
but the Truth really is
right in front of your nose
the world is everything
right down to your toes.

Planting the Seed

I looked at my palm plant, sitting by the bay window. If I water it, talk to it, provide sunlight for it, love it, then why is it crippled and dying? What do I need to give this plant? Perhaps a little music nutrition will do the trick...
